5 Family Friendly Holiday Destinations

(1) Canary Islands

With 300 days of sunshine a year and a cluster of islands to choose from to create your perfect family trip, the Canary Islands are a hot destination for holidaymakers looking for a getaway close to home.

Only 4.5 hours flight time from the UK, the islands have plenty of activities to keep tourists young and old occupied as well as picture perfect beaches and luxe cuisine. For a fun activity day, take the kids to Parque Zoo if you’re in Tenerife or head to Acua Water Park in Fuerteventura for some fun water rides!

Many of the hotels on the Canary Islands are well equipped for children, with Fuertaventura appealing to families wanting a quieter trip and Lanzarote catering more to those with little ones, so there really Is no excuse not to go.

 

 (2) Mexico

Treat the whole family to a holiday on Mexico’s Caribbean Coast and enjoy both the tropical climate with gorgeous white, sandy beaches and exciting adventure activities.

Starting with a jungle adventure in Yucatan or Tulum, you and your family can enjoy days filled with Sailing, Snorkelling, Cave Tubing, Fishing or even just sunbathing, taking in the views of the clear waters and eating copious amounts of authentic Mexican food.

(3) Greece

The food, beaches and the clear, blue seas tempt many holidaymakers to the Greek islands every year. In Greece there truly is something for everyone depending on which location you choose to spend your time. If you’re looking for activity-based holidays for the kids, look no further than Corfu. While still maintaining a humble, authentic and historic feel, Corfu is home to one of Europe’s best waterparks but also offers tourists beautiful mountain hikes, snorkeling in crystal-clear waters and miles of golden beaches.

However, if you want something a little more scenic, charming and quaint, head to Kefalonia Crete or Rhodes. These destinations are famous for their family-friendly atmosphere and picturesque seaside villages.

 

(4) Spain

Spain is a firm family favourite holiday destination. Millions of UK tourists flock to the country every year for their annual summer holiday and it’s easy to see why. A short 2 – 3 hour flight away from home, The Costas in Spain offer some of the best spots to take your family. With kid-friendly hotels in abundance, huge stretches of white sand, lively towns and plenty of activities for all ages, there is something to do whether you are there for 4 nights or 14.

Just a short two hour drive away is Barcelona if you fancy a culture trip during your break or if you want to treat your inner thrill-seeker, the PortAventura theme park is just 30 minutes away by car and is home to Europe’s largest rollercoaster.

While more and more families are choosing to take long haul trips, don’t forget what is practically almost on your doorstep in Spain!

(5) Orlando, Florida

Disney World is every kids and big kids dream holiday destination. The resort offers multiple options no matter what your ideal trip to Disney World would be, from theme park rides, character meet and greets, sophisticated eateries to toddler friendly areas like the Magic Kingdom, there is plenty to keep the whole family entertained.

Close to the resort is the famous Kennedy Space Center just a brief one hour’s drive away.
