10 Destinations for a late summer holidayWith massive price hikes on flights, hotels and holidays during the summer months of June - September, here's our top 10 destinations for a late summer holiday.

With massive price hikes on flights, hotels and holidays in general during the summer months of June - September unless you book WAY in advance, it's no surprise that more and more Brits who are able to, are opting to cash in their holiday time later and later in the year. And by doing so, are making a huge saving. For that very reason, we've shortlisted our top 10 destinations where it's still hot in September through to December, so you can make the most of your precious time away and hopefully save some cash by travelling out of peak season.

(10) Fuerteventura

Fuerteventura has year-round sunshine and arguably the best beaches in the Canary Islands (head down to Jandia for a real treat!). The autumn and winter seasons are still largely dry in Fuerteventura due to the subtropical climate with rainfall averagins 10mm.

The average temperature from September to December is a toasty 24C and it's only a short 4 hour flight away from the UK.

Best time to visit: All year round.

(9) Kos

Kos is part of the Dodecanese islands in the Aegean Sea and is the place to go for beautiful scenery, romantic sunsets and golden sandy beaches. Kos is abundant with historic architecture which competes highly with other parts of Greece, but it's this place that gets our vote for a much more relaxed atmosphere.

The rainfall does increase over the month of October to 55mm however it is still a largely dry month with average temperatures of 26C and it's only a short flight of 4 hours from the UK.

Best time to visit: June - October.

(8) Tenerife

Another beautiful island of the Canaries that makes our list is Tenerife.

It's year-round sunshine and lively culture means it's a beautiful place to visit any time of the year.

Tenerife is a vibrant island famous for its festivals, music and authentic Canarian cuisine. There is something for everyone no matter what your interests; get lost in nature, relax on the beach, have fun at a theme park or even just go shopping.

Tenerife is the largest of Spain's Canary Islands and is home to Mt Teide, a dormant volcano that is Spain's tallest peak - great for exploring!

The average flight from the UK is just 4.5 hours and you can enjoy daily temperatures of up to 25C.

Best time to visit: All year round.

(7) Marrakech, Morocco

You don't necessarily need a beach to enjoy some sun!

Marrakech is a beautiful, vibrant city with plenty to do for bargain hunters, thrill-seekers and sun loungers alike. This city is rich in history and culture offering exotic gardens, palaces, traditional souks (if you're a keen shopper!) and more.

Whilst you're in town why not treat yourself to a traditional Moroccan Hammam massage?!

You can enjoy daily temperatures of up to 28C throughout September - December and Marrakech is just a 3.5 hour flight from London airports.

Best time to visit: June - December.

(6) Cape Verde

A group of ten volcanic islands make up Cape Verde which lies just off the coast of West Africa.

These islands offer consistently high temperatures throughout the year and is the perfect place if you want to just spend a week or two relaxing poolside or on the beach.

Cape Verde is a lot less commercialised than some other destinations on our list but don't let that deter you, there is plenty to see and do outside your resort - take a trip to an authentic market, visit a small fishing village or even see if you can spot a nesting of loggerhead turtles which the islands are famous for.

You can enjoy daily temperatures of up to 28C throughout September - December and the Cape Verde islands are just 6 hours away from the UK. You'll be soaking up the sun in no time!

(5) Barbados

The year-round high temperatures see the months of September - December experiencing an average daily temperature of around 29C.

Don't sweat though, literally! The heat is made more comfortable at this time of the year as the humidity drops making a trip to Barbados a more pleasurable experience.

There is plenty to see and do on this beautiful island including the local tradition of having afternoon tea and watching the cricket, which is their national sport.

The average flight time from the UK is 8 hours and 45 minutes.

Best time to visit: November - April.

(4) Cuba

Cuba is a destination that often goes under the radar when booking a holiday which is hugely disappointing as there is so much to offer.

Dotted with white beaches, tobacco fields and home-run restaurants (honestly! authentic Cuban food served in the homes of locals that turn in to quaint restaurants in the evenings. It's a must-do whilst in town!).

This is definitely a destination that you'll want to explore and fill your days with sight-seeing and embracing the culture. When in Rome, eh?!

The average daily temperature in Cuba later in the year sits at 29C but can get hotter right in the middle of their summer months. It also takes roughly 13 hours to fly to Cuba from the UK and often includes one stop along the way.

The Dominican Republic is one of the most diverse countries in the Caribbean. It's got a little bit of everything; beaches, lagoons, mountain peaks and waterfalls are just the tip of the iceberg with what's on offer here.

Early summer is the most popular time to visit the Dominican Republic as temperatures are slightly cooler, so be quick when booking your trip. Even with temperatures being slightly cooler, the average daily temperature is still a sizzling 30C!

If you're looking for an abundance of restaurants, bars and even a casino, Puerto Plata is the place for you. If you're looking for something more relaxing and less busy, Samana is picturesque with its footprint-free beaches and sleepy resorts.
