Budget Friendly holiday destinations to take the kids

At InsuraTrip Travel Insurance, we’ve found a number of holidays that can not only be budget friendly, but are also great places to take the kids.

Cyprus

Cyprus combines big beach resorts and waterparks with Ancient Greek ports and traditional harbour towns – so you can experience both authentic island life and thrilling sporting activities. When it comes to resorts, the Larnaca region is a firm family favourite. Here you’ll find crisp, sandy beaches, waterparks and traditional restaurants. Alternatively, if you want an all-authentic trip, head to Paphos to experience beautiful temples, colourful mosaics and a Neolithic history to learn about.

Algarve, Portugal

The Algarve has been a longstanding popular holiday destination for families.

Blessed with stunning natural beauty, year round sunshine and relaxing beaches. Whilst you could spend long days lounging on the beach and taking in the beautiful views, your kids will definitely not want to miss the chance to visit Aqualand, one of the largest waterparks in Europe!

If you want an active holiday to tire the whole family out, try kayaking to the Benagil Caves or surfing at Carrapateira, the west coast’s top surfing spot!

Ideal destination for a cheap family holiday.

Costa Del Sol, Spain

Another affordable destination on our list is the Costa Del Sol.

Within easy reach from the UK, the Costa Del Sol is beautiful, family friendly and well within a tight budget!

Millions of UK tourists flock to the country every year for their annual summer holiday and it’s easy to see why. A short 2 – 3 hour flight away from home, The Costas in Spain offer some of the best spots to take your family. With kid-friendly hotels in abundance, huge stretches of white sand, lively towns and plenty of activities for all ages, there is something to do whether you are there for 4 nights or 14.

An average family meal will cost in the region of £50 and a bottle of beer as little as approx. £2! (Price of Travel, 2020)

While more and more families are choosing to take long haul trips, don’t forget what is practically almost on your doorstep in Spain!

This destination is perfect for a budget friendly holiday.

Balearic Islands

The Spanish islands of Majorca, Menorca and Ibiza have a reputation for fuss-free family holidays and have been a big hit with holidaymakers for over 50 years.

The Balearic Islands tick off everything you’d want from a family holiday, with short flights and transfers, great family hotels and attractions, amazing beaches, and culture-packed old towns. You can take your pick from quiet, laid back resorts like Cala Bona, or Alcúdia, which has one of Majorca’s longest beaches or, make a beeline for Palma Nova, which lines up a trio of beaches, its own tropical-themed mini-golf course, and the Aqualand waterpark.

The perfect holiday for keeping the kids entertained!

Canary Islands

With 300 days of sunshine a year and a cluster of islands to choose from to create your perfect family trip, the Canary Islands are a hot destination for holidaymakers looking for a getaway close to home.

Only 4.5 hours flight time from the UK, the islands have plenty of activities to keep tourists young and old occupied as well as picture perfect beaches and luxe cuisine. For a fun activity day, take the kids to Parque Zoo if you’re in Tenerife or head to Acua Water Park in Fuerteventura for some fun water rides!

Many of the hotels on the Canary Islands are well equipped for children, with Fuertaventura appealing to families wanting a quieter trip and Lanzarote catering more to those with little ones, so there really Is no excuse not to go.
