It’s official! The UK has, as of 18th of March 2022, ended all travel restrictions, which means there couldn’t be a more perfect time to get away and enjoy a holiday (or two!). But after 2 years of potentially not travelling you may be wondering where you are going to go? What can you do once you get there? And what if other countries still have travel restrictions? Well don’t worry, here at InsuraTrip we’ve got you covered with all the information you need to remember when travelling this Easter.

Short haul holidays

If you are wanting to travel this Easter but don’t want to travel too far then you’ll probably be considering a short haul holiday. Luckily for you, there are tonnes of fantastic short haul destinations for you to consider this Easter.

First up, we have: Anywhere in the Mediterranean!

Yes, we really mean it, anywhere in the Mediterranean is going to be beautiful this time of year and it won’t be so hot that you feel like you’re melting!

Italy

Italy offers holidays for everyone, whether you fancy yourself as a wine connoisseur and would like a vineyard tour in Tuscany or you’re still chasing the last of that winter snow in the north of the country (remember to check your Travel Insurance policy covers you for Winter Sports first). Maybe you’re more interested in a cultural experience in Rome or Pompeii or maybe you just want to relax and enjoy the sights the Amalfi Coast has to offer. Struggling with ideas of what to do in Italy? Maybe consider a gondola ride in Venice or visit Gardaland, perfect for families or adventure seekers with adrenaline inducing rides, a Sea Life Aquarium, Mini Legoland and water park! Plus, wherever you go, be sure to try some traditional Italian cuisine, you can thank us later!

Greece or Croatia

Greece or Croatia are also stunning spots in the Med for you to think about. Whether you want to go island hopping across the Greek islands, snap some Insta worthy photos in Santorini, or simply enjoy some of the local cuisine, Greece offers a great, budget friendly option (in some places) for your Easter getaway. With a combination of great weather, stunning settings, beautiful food and a superb selection of hotels, what’s not to love about Greece!

Likewise, Croatia will be just as warm as Greece this Easter with some stunning destinations including Split, Hvar and Dubrovnik. A must visit country as well for any Game of Thrones fans with many of the features in the show being in Dubrovnik, such as the city walls and forts which were used as King’s Landing!

Not feeling those options? Maybe Spain or Portugal will be more your style.

Portugal and Spain

With temperatures reaching and exceeding the 20oc mark in both countries, you’ll be sure to find some Easter sun, maybe even get a tan again (not that I remember what one of those is)! Portugal is perfect for any golf enthusiast having become one of Europe’s premier golfing destinations with 31 courses in the Algarve alone! Don’t worry, golf isn’t the only thing on the menu in Portugal, you could surf the waves in the Azores or relax on the beaches in the Algarve.

Spain offers the same tempting temperatures, cracking beach vacations in Majorca, Tenerife or Marbella and beautiful city breaks in Barcelona, Madrid or Seville. If architecture is your thing, then you’ll be well catered for in Spain, with some magnificent buildings on show in all the cities, none more so than Barcelona with big gothic churches, wide plazas, and of course, the Camp Nou, you will be sure to get an eye full…

France

Which brings us onto France, more specifically Paris, and the Parisian delights on offer in the French capital. Of course, the Eiffel tower is a major draw of this city but with great food on offer too and a chance to walk down the famous Champs-Élysées, part of the most famous finishing stage in cycling, the Tour de France, what could be better. Perfect for couples looking for a romantic getaway (maybe they’ll pop the question…) or for a foody looking to try some local delicacies (Snails, we mean try the snails)! Or if you venture slightly outside of the city, you’ll find Disneyland Paris. Whether you’ve got Disney obsessed kids, or you are just a big kid yourself, Disneyland is perfect for anyone and a lot closer and cheaper than the American versions. With themed rides, restaurants and hotels and the numerous parades on show, you’ll be sure to get your Disney fix… for the next couple of months or so at least.

Canary Islands

If you are looking slightly further afield, then the Canary Islands should definitely be considered. Although not technically a short haul journey, the Canary Islands are still reachable in 4.5 hours and are unbelievable beach holiday destinations. With near enough year-round lovely weather, incredible wildlife to see and even volcanoes to explore, there’s plenty else to do than just enjoy the spectacular beaches!

We hope wherever you choose to go and whatever you decide to do, that you have a fantastic Easter and enjoy finally being able to travel again!
